Some favourites of ours from the RIBA Awards shortlist 2020.
29th June 2020
Walmer Castle and Gardens Learning Centre by Adam Richards Architects.
We love the combination of the sand blasted concrete plinth, grey brick and zinc. The use of brick both externally and internally, and the simple yet striking brick arched picture window with its elegant two tier soldier course lintel.
Tintangel Castle Footbridge designed by Architecture studio William Matthews Associates and engineers Ney & Partners.
Another fantastic project that's been shortlisted for the RIBA Awards is Tintagel Castle Footbridge the new bridge spans a 65m void between headland and mainland, and is made from steel, oak and local slate from the Delabole quarry, which is England's oldest working quarry. Slate forms the path for the new bridge, and is stacked vertically along its length, emulating the rock faces of the surrounding landscape which is absolutely stunning.
Kyle House by Groves-Raines Architects, located in the remote Scottish Highlands.
This property was chosen by our Project Architect Alexandra Ewan, "The mixture of textures sit beautifully together. Rough cut stone and weathered oak on the exterior, all completely sympathetic to the landscape. The interiors are strikingly different, with what looks like neat textured plaster, timber and glass detailing"
