Studio Outlook.
Our vision is to redefine the boundaries of bespoke design, creating exceptional spaces that seamlessly blend beauty, functionality, and sustainability, while setting new standards for craftsmanship and innovation in architecture and interiors across the UK and beyond.
Our aim is to craft extraordinary environments that reflect our clients’ unique visions and lifestyles. Through our holistic approach, we unite architects, interior designers, and cabinet makers under one roof to deliver cohesive, high-quality designs. Guided by a commitment to sustainability, local craftsmanship, and attention to detail, we aim to shape spaces that stand the test of time while fostering trust, creativity, and excellence in every project.
-
We offer full architectural services at all stages of a project, through feasibility, planning, tender, and construction. We are a RIBA and RIAS Chartered Practice. We work in both residential and commercial sectors, notably in one-off residential projects, members clubs, boutique hotels, restaurants and luxury retail. We enjoy both refurbishment and new build projects, and have extensive experience with listed buildings and conservation areas.
-
We also offer full interior design services where we look to integrate all aspects of an interior with both architecture and bespoke furniture design to create beautiful and interesting environments, tailored to each individual client. We work with the best suppliers and manufacturers from around the world to source rich and unique materials, from Scottish leathers and English timbers to beautiful design classics, as well as unique pieces from new and emerging designers.
-
In our workshop we craft furniture enriched with a passion for design and focused on natural material qualities. We design considered pieces that will stand the test of time, and that can be handed down from generation to generation. Through a combination of both modern and traditional fabrication techniques, our team of highly skilled makers create unique pieces to add that final quality and detail to a Simpson Studio project.
Sustainability.
We are passionate about working with beautiful, natural materials and understanding the qualities and limits of these materials is central to our craft, allowing us to create thoughtful, enduring designs that balance functionality and aesthetic integrity.
Sustainability is not an afterthought—it’s embedded in everything we do. Previoulsy considered an optional approach, sustainable design is now a standard we uphold across all our projects. From material selection to construction, we prioritize practices that minimize waste and maximize the lifespan of our creations.
Our commitment to sustainability extends to the details. In our workshop, we repurpose offcuts and surplus materials into bespoke objects, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Wherever possible, we source materials locally, working with a remarkable network of British suppliers and manufacturers who share our dedication to quality and environmental responsibility

Our team.
Joanna Simpson | Director
After graduating from The University of Edinburgh, with a first in Architecture and receiving the prestigious Martin Hackett Award, Joanna joined the built environment charity Article 25, working on projects in Sierra Leone’s largest national park with Jack Pringle and schools in Pakistan with Norman Foster, and then later with Dunthorne Parker Architects on a variety of commercial and residential projects across the UK. With a strong sense of vision and purpose, Joanna set up Simpson Studio in May 2013, founded on the idiom the devil is in the detail.
Alex Ewan | Associate Director
Alex is an RIBA chartered Architect who joined Simpson Studio in 2015 after completing her Part II at the CASS with London Metropolitan University. Since joining Simpson Studio, she has worked on a rich variety of residential and commercial projects, and has developed her skills in adapting historic and listed buildings. Alex has a particular love for detail drawings, and with a pragmatic approach, enjoys the finer problem solving that a beautiful piece of joinery or complex building junction can require.
Giovanni Beggio | Architect
Giovanni graduated in 2009 in Architectural Engineering at the University of Trento, in Italy. In the UK he has worked on a wide range of projects, from concept design through to completion on site. Those include small and large residential projects, commercial offices, masterplans and mixed use developments. Giovanni enjoys a collaborative approach, in which teamwork, site analysis, attention for detail and sustainability are at the heart of the design development. Giovanni also contributes as a visiting tutor at the University of Westminster from 2016 to 2020.

Further to his interest in adapting buildings to their future needs Andrew is a Registered Conservation Architect. Andrew enjoys the collaborative approach to design and the attention to detail, to diligently and successfully deliver projects.
Aylin Ozdemir | Part III Architectural Assistant
After graduating from Kingston University, Aylin decided to join Simpson Studios because of its integrated design approach and to have the opportunity to combine different disciples and ideas into a cohesive design. Prior to that, Aylin worked on both residential and commercial projects in and around London. Alongside her studies, Aylin was also a volunteer for a charity, exploring vernacular construction methods and aiding in the design of a sustainable school.
