Design’s New Stone Age.

15th June 2020

A great read to start our working work - BBC Designed article "Design’s new stone age is here" By Clare Dowdy.

A really interesting article that discusses the return of stone, and how "stone’s architectural image is being bolstered by new software technology, innovations in manufacturing and a greater understanding of quarrying." They also discuss how "people increasingly want the authentic beauty and inconsistencies of natural stone – David Mahyari" and how when working with stone, each piece, even if you produce thousands of the same model, is always unique.

This uniqueness and natural variation of raw materials is heavily celebrated in our work, and our current interest in this material in relation to a high end resi project we're detailing, makes us even more excited to realise our plans!

Once life returns to more of a sense of normality, we're looking forward to visiting "The New Stone Age", an exhibition of contemporary stone architecture at London's Building Centre which is on until September.
