So often in design it can be easiest to reshape natural elements to suite a vision, but for our meeting table we wanted our vision to be shaped by the natural elements we used.
We started with a British Elm board which originated in the woodlands of Leith Hall in Scotland. It was carefully selected for its size, shape and character. We removed only what was necessary and worked the timber to achieve a finish that would preserve and enhance its character.
We designed the legs to wrap around and hold the trunk, rather than anything that would penetrate the material. The cracks within the timber were filled with clear resin and the table was finished with a natural low sheen oil.
