The design and fit-out a members club for dogs, including a full range of bespoke furniture.
WagWorks is the happy place for city dogs, reshaping dog daycare in urban areas. An environment build around dogs needs, providing daycare, health, training and grooming all under one room.
We were employed by the client at the end of 2018, starting with an early stage brief and the initial cornerstones of their philosophy, and we spent the next two years throughout the COVID19 pandemic refining the concept, material palette, and architectural aesthetic. Together with client, we looked at a total for three site before they fixed their ambition on Fulham High Street. The brief was to create a dog daycare that set a new benchmark in the UK and addressed all aspects of a dogs needs and well being.
The club has a main reception, members area and shop, an indoor park, scent den, dog pantry, healthcare clinic, alongside grooming and wellness facilities in the adjacent unit.
There were challenges around planning designation and licensing, defining standards for air changes, and dealing with smells! We designed solutions for indoor toileting, the safety of dogs within the environment, and measures to deal with the risk of dog napping - a problem that has grown exponentially. We worked with the client and their expert team of dog behaviourists, phycologists and vets to evolve the design and deliver an Dezeen long-listed solution, loved by dogs and their owners alike.
Alongside the bespoke joinery shown here, we also built a range of dog-friendly furniture using British oak and Scottish leather.

A shop was created as part of the reception area, with shelving units designed to the exact requirements of Wagworks.
